MM111 is not significantly larger than MM106. For a larger tree that fruits well choose M25. Note that many factors affect eventual tree size, including soil, exposure, rainfall and growing season. For an on-line calculator for many more varieties (and other types of fruit) see http://www.orangepippintrees.co.uk/treeheights.aspx The table above is similar to the orangepippin data but has been adjusted for actual experience in Cumbria, where some trees grow more strongly with the higher rainfall. Note also that small trees may bear as many or more apples than more vigorous varieties. Cider apple trees grown with a central leader, rather than with an open centre, will be taller than that indicated above. Restricted growth forms (e.g. cordons) require a larger rootstock than indicated by the table.
