Surveillance and Epidemiology: All 17 LGAs have recorded at least a confirmed COVID-19 case (s) The case fatality rate amongst confirmed cases is 2.0% The positivity rate for week 21 is 2.3%. This represents an increase in positivity rate compared to the previous week (0.34% positivity rate in week 20). The case to contact ratio is 1:5 The percentage of contacts that were confirmed positive is 3.9%. Point of Entry (POE): Conducted screening of passengers at the Points of Entries (POEs) Conducted supportive supervision at the POE in Potiskum, Nangere, Bade, and Nguru LGAs. Case Management: The total number of active confirmed cases in the state is sixteen (16) Eight (8) patients have recovered, and no COVID-19 related mortality. Infection Prevention and Control (IPC): Conducted decontamination and disinfection of SSH molecular diagnostic laboratory, SSH Damaturu, and FMC Nguru Isolation centers Conducted sensitization on uptake of COVID-19 second dose vaccination. 6 | P a g e Laboratory and Diagnostic Support: Following up with the laboratory team to retrieve pending sample results The total number of samples collected is seventeen thousand, two hundred and seventy-two (17,272). Four hundred and sixty (460) results are positive, fifteen thousand, four hundred and forty-one (15,441) are negative, forty-two (42) for a repeat test, and one thousand, three hundred, and twenty-nine (1,329) remaining sample results are pending. Risk Communication and Social Mobilization: Yobe SHCMB, in collaboration with WHO HTR teams, Community Health Champions and AVADAR Informants, UNICEF, and CGPP VCMs, conducted mass community sensitization, reaching 6,402 people with COVID-19 prevention messages. CHALLENGES: Massive population displacement and attacks on hospitals and PHC centers by the Non-state Armed Groups (NSAGs) are disrupting COVID-19 response and health services in affected LGAs (Geidam, Yunusari, and Gujba LGAs) Insecurity and military operations are limiting contact tracing, active case search, and community sensitization in security-compromised LGAs Bad geographical is limiting access to remote communities to sustain COVID-19 prevention activities. NEXT STEP(S): Continue providing the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine to health workers and strategic leaders Scale-up Hard-To-Reach (HTR) mobile health services in Yunusari and Geidam LGAs to mitigate the impacts of disruption of health services Provide additional support for active case search strategy, contact tracing, and sample collection in high- burden LGAs Continue sensitization and capacity building for community stakeholders to reduce fear and stigmatization, and lead COVID-19 control efforts in remote and security-compromised communities. 7 | P a g e .
