The programme trains TRUST and supports parents to manage the care of their children with tracheostomies, so that they return home to their families and avoid the long hospital stays SUCCESSES characteristically facing tracheostomy patients around the world. The second year of the inpatient Paediatric Palliative Care Unit at the Sarah Fox Children’s Convalescent Hospital was funded, providing a multidisciplinary family- centred paediatric palliative care service for children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses. The service provides support for up to 65 children and their families annually. The first year of the community-based Paediatric Rehabilitation Programme at St Joseph’s Home for Chronically Ill Children was funded. The service provides intensive therapies for children, training for parents to support their children at home, and a post-discharge home-visiting programme to help children function as best they can in their own home environments.
