The world economy remains sluggish and achieves weak growth. However, economic globalization is still an irreversible trend of the times, and the development of the global MICE industry still remains stable. According to the latest edition of the Global Exhibition Barometer released by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), it is expected that the exhibition industry around the world will continue to grow steadily in 2019. President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the development of China’s MICE industry. Since 2019, President Xi Jinping has not only personally attended a series of major conventions and exhibitions such as the 2nd China International Import Expo and the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, but also sent congratulatory letters to the China International Big Data Industry Expo, the China International Fair for Trade in Services, the first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, the 12th China-Northeast Asia Expo, the Fourth China-Arab States Expo, the World Manufacturing Convention, the China International Digital Economy Expo, China Marine Economy Expo and other 20 exhibitions and conventions, proposing that we should make good use of these platforms to promote the implementation of the “Belt and Road” Initiative and make efforts to build a community with a shared future for mankind. With the leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, the MICE industry in China has made concerted efforts to meet challenges, seize opportunities, and has made remarkable achievements and important contributions in the following aspects: First, the success of a series of major conventions and exhibitions has effectively promoted the development of the MICE industry. The market scale of the exhibition industry remains the largest in the world; new exhibition forms emerge in endlessly; the business model presents diversified development; the resource integration is increasingly intensified, and the industry structure and regional layout are continuously optimized, promoting the MICE industry from high-speed growth into a high-quality development track. Second, the promotion and influence of the exhibition industry on the development of national economy has been further enhanced, The exhibition industry gives full play to the effects of resource allocation, distribution of elements, and economic radiation, and has played an increasingly important role in transforming economic development modes, leading industrial transformation and upgrading, promoting high-quality economic and social development, and improving the comprehensive national power. Third, the vigorous development of China’s exhibition industry has also made positive contributions to building a modern open market system, promoting international economic and trade cooperation, boosting confidence in the world economy, promoting world economic development, and building a community with a shared future for mankind. In order to fully cooperate with the national foreign economic and trade strategy, give full play to the Annual Report on China's Exhibition Economy (2019) role of the exhibition industry as an important platform for building an open economic system and promoting the construction of China’s modern economic system, constantly expand foreign trade, cultivate new forms and models of trade, and better promote the high-quality development of the exhibition industry, the Department of Trade and Investment Promotion of CCPIT has entrusted the Academy of CCPIT to carry out the formulation of Annual Report on China’s Exhibition Economy (2019) (hereinafter referred to as the “Report”), so as to provide authoritative information resources for the exhibition industry, provide reference for relevant government departments to improve exhibition management and service levels, and formulate policies and development plans for the exhibition industry. The Report is released during the annual China Expo Forum for International Cooperation (CEFCO). Since 2005, it has been issued for 15 consecutive years, giving voice to the industry, which has made a certain impact on the MICE industry at home and abroad and played a certain guiding role in the industry development. Report (2019) continues will the review and outlook of China’s exhibition industry, the overview of the development of China’s domestic and overseas exhibitions, and the overview of the development of China’s exhibition venues. At the same time, it is planned to apply the form of special topics to present the international horticultural exhibition and China development, the world exposition and China development, the new development in government-led exhibitions, the research on the capitalization operation of Chinese exhibition industry, the historical processes of building a powerful exhibition country during 1949~2019, the case study of convention and exhibition economy development in Guangxi Province and other hot topics according to the new development trend of China’s exhibition industry in the new era to comprehensively, accurately and timely reflect the status of exhibitions (expositions) held in China. Several research methods including data analysis, comparative analysis and literature analysis were used in the process of preparing the report to summarize and extract valuable data and information and form conclusions so as to reveal the inherent quantitative relationship, law and development trend of various exhibition indicators. Data analysis. The domestic exhibition data in China is mainly collected and provided by the Information Department of China International Exhibition Center Group Corporation. The data is sourced from member units of the CCPIT system and domestic public media information (network and print media). Based on the data of 3,547 economic and trade exhibitions with area information collected, the Report will make separate statistics on the number of similar industry exhibitions held by the same exhibition organizers, at the same time, and at the same place if the exhibition organizers clearly distinguish them; the Report will make combined statistics if the exhibition organizers do not clearly distinguish them. Based on the 1,766 overseas exhibition projects that have been implemented by each exhibition organizer of the exhibition approval and management system of the CCPIT, as of Nov. 13, 2019,the statistical analysis is mainly conducted for data of China’s overseas exhibitions that have been implemented. The relevant data of China’s exhibition venues is derived from the database of the Information Department of China International Exhibition Center Group Corporation. According to the statistical standard of the exhibition venue market by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), a statistical survey has been conducted on 431 exhibition venues and non-professional exhibition places in 186 cities (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and a statistical analysis has been conducted
