MAYOR'S REPORT TO COUNCIL 19 April 2017- 16 May 2017 • Attended Bendigo Senior Secondary College ANZAC Day Ceremony and morning tea. • Attended and spoke at the City of Greater Bendigo Budget Media Briefing. • Attended the Turning of the Sod for the Gardens for the Future at the Bendigo Botanic Gardens Bendigo • Met with the 2030 Greater Victoria Commonwealth Games Taskforce members • Met with Redesdale community members as part of the Redesdale & District Association Inc. committee meeting • Officially opened the Queer Country Art Show held at Dudley House. • Spoke at the Canterbury Park Community Pavilion Official Opening • Attended and welcomes participants for the O’Keefe Run Cycle Walk Dinner at the Axedale Tavern • Attended and spoke at the fundraising dinner for the Bendigo Islamic Community Centre • Attended and laid wreath at the Axedale ANZAC Day Service • Attended and laid wreath at the Bendigo ANZAC Day Service • Welcomed attendees to the Australian Pilots Association Welcome Cocktail Function • Attended the Regional Cities Victoria meeting • Attended the Victorian Local Governance Association Annual Women’s Event at Parliament House. • Guest speaker at the Loddon Murray Leadership Program Day • Spoke at the Royal Freemasons Bendigo Aged Care Facility Official Opening • Chaired the Farming Advisory Committee meeting • Attended the celebration event for the start of the National Disability Insurance Scheme with the Hon. Martin Foley Minister for House, Disability and Ageing. • Met with the Hon. Lisa Neville MP Minister for Police and other representatives to discuss anti-social behavior occurring in the Hargreaves Mall. • Officially opened the forum ‘Services to Bendigo Supporting People of Refugee Background & those seeking Asylum’ • Spoke at the Central Victorian Agribusiness Forum • Attended the Bendigo Post Budget Briefing with Premier Daniel Andrews MP, Hon. Jacinta Allan MP and Maree Edwards • Visited residents at Domain Village with the Eppalock Ward Councillors • Met onsite with representatives from the Peppercorn Park Equestrian facility in Longlea • Attended the La Trobe University Alumni Association Downtown Lecture by the Hon. John Brumby AO • Attended a meeting to discuss the Pioneer Preparatory Academy Briefing MAYOR'S REPORT TO COUNCIL 19 April 2017- 16 May 2017 • Spoke at the City of Greater Bendigo Community Service Volunteer Recognition Luncheon • Hosted the Recognition Reception for the Tourism Industry Award Winners – Bendigo Tourism, Bendigo Heritage Attractions and Masons of Bendigo • Spoke at the City of Greater Bendigo Volunteer Thank You Morning Tea • Met with representatives from Orchestra Victoria • Attended the Be.Bendigo Networking Drinks & Budget Wrap Up • Attended the Business Network in Bendigo meeting • Attended and spoke at the Stakeholder Consultation Forum for the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan • Attended and spoke at the Bendigo Highland Pipe Band's 80th Anniversary Community Performance • Welcomed participants to the 2017 Mother’s Day Classic • Officiated at the Citizenship Ceremony attended by 70 new citizens at the Bendigo Town Hall • Participated in numerous workshops and forums • Participated in numerous radio, newspaper, television media interviews and photo opportunities • Met with many residents, businesses and community groups regarding a wide range of issues.
