After the 2015-16 academic year, 18 student-athletes went on to play at a higher level (NCAA or NAIA). In addition to a legacy of competitive teams that compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association, we also have a strong history of achieving great academic success. In 2015-16, 27 of our student-athletes made the All-Academic Team for the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) with a 3.30 GPA or higher. Twenty of these student-athletes then went on to make the All-Academic National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) team with a 3.5 or higher GPA. Additionally, our baseball team was second in the state with a cumulative team GPA of 3.27. This year, we implemented a BlueWave Life Skills program to enhance student-athlete success. The program focuses on five areas: academic success, athletic success, community service, personal development and career/financial success. Student-athletes attend seminars to enhance their life in areas such as leadership development, building healthy relationships, communication and financial literacy while continuing to be the best students they can be in the classroom. In addition, coaches and teams represent FSCJ in service endeavors throughout Duval and Nassau counties and our College community. We welcome the public to our athletic and community events including the upcoming summer programs such as camps and high school league tournaments. Go BlueWave!
