Identified by The Australian as ‘the best young talent for the new millenium’, pianist/composer Benjamin Lisa Gorton lives in Melbourne. Her first poetry collection, Press Release, was shortlisted for the Martin has become known as an artist of exceptional versatility and subtlety of expression. Arlington Community Orchestra Teresa Duddy Preshil Alumni Cohort 2004 Arlington strings was a joint project of parents and instrumental music teachers at Preshil. the group has been going since the children in Grade 6 were in the Nursery School and meet once or twice Ms. Duddy completed her Masters in Performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, USA, in a week. This group offers musical performance opportunities for the children at Arlington, and the 2011, and her Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne in 2009. Recent performances include senior campus, who are learning a musical instrument (and even for those not yet learning) in a fun Lolette in La Rondine (2010): L’Enfant in L’Enfant et les Sortileges (2010): Rita in Rita (2011): Susanna atmosphere. They will be performing ‘Jupiter’ by Gustav Holst, led by Preshil instrumental teacher and in Le Nozze di Figaro (2011) with the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar (Germany), and Clorinda in La Director of Carneval Strings, Karoline Kuti. Preshil Chamber Orchestra Lior The Preshil Chamber Orchestra is led by Tim Dargaville, Music Coordinator at Preshil Senior School, and Lior burst onto the Australian music scene in 2005 with his stunning debut album – ‘Autumn Flow’. lecturer in composition at Monash Conservatorium of Music. This group performs original and specially Recorded and released entirely independently, and spearheaded by ‘This Old Love’ and subsequent arranged work by students and music staff at Preshil, as well repertoire ranging from Corelli to Satie singles ‘Daniel’ and ‘Autumn Flow’, the album became one of the most successful independent debuts and contemporary composers, including Terry Riley. The ensemble for this afternoon’s performance in Australian history with sales surpassing Platinum. A swag of accolades followed, amongst them three comprises current students, alumni and Preshil instrumental teachers. They will play a 7 minute work Aria nominations (including Best Male Artist), as well as Triple J’s prestigious ‘J Award’ nomination for called “Child’s Play” which utilises music and spoken word. This is a group of creative, dedicated and Ros Bandt flexible staff and student musicians who love to perform beautiful music when the opportunities arise. Director of Music at Preshil 1975 – 1981 Dr Ros Bandt is an internationally acclaimed sound artist, composer, researcher and scholar. Since 1977 she has pioneered interactive sound installations, sound sculptures, and created sound playgrounds, Louisa Breen spatial music systems, and some 40 sound installations worldwide. In 1990 Bandt won the Don Banks Preshil Alumni Cohort 1995 Composers Award, being the first woman to do so. Other awards include the inaugural Benjamin Cohen Louisa Breen (accompanies Selena Pettifer) graduated with Bachelor of Music Honours from the Peace Prize in the USA and the Sound Art Australia Prize funded by the ABC and the Goethe Institute. University of Melbourne in 1998. In February 2004, Louisa won the piano section of the prestigious Performing original composition titled Ode to Margaret featuring a Tarhu alto recorder by Jo Saunders Royal Overseas League Music Competition, followed shortly by her solo Wigmore Hall debut. She is an Preshil Alumni. Associate Artist at the Australian National Academy of Music, and is a regular pianist with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Clare Bowditch Preshil Alumni Cohort 1993 Tinpan Orange Preshil Alumni Jesse Lubitz 1993, Emily Lubitz 1994 Clare Bowditch is a musician, writer, coach (creativity and creative-business), social commentator and sometimes actor who stars as ‘Rosanna’ on Channel 10’s Offspring. Clare has just recorded her fifth Six-foot front woman Emily Lubitz twirls her flaming hair out across a complex and original musical studio album, “The Winter I Chose Happiness”, for release by Island Records in September 2012 (it’s creation, in which virtuoso instrumental performances and pulsating rhythms merge to form a wholly totally, like, awesome).
