It is subdivided into the eastern part - The Great Lagoon and the western part - The Small Lagoon. A rather small basin of small depth with characteristic and varied coastline. By the Lagoon, many commercial, fishing and yacht ports were opened in Stepnica, Wolin, Kamien Pomorski, Dziwnow, Trzebiez and Nowe Warpno. The lagoon houses a deepened fairway from Szczecin to Swinoujscie. The average depth of the Lagoon amounts to 3.8 m. The Lagoon is a popular place for recreation, water sports and fishery. Its waters might be reached by sailing from Germany to Stralsund, sailing into The Mi^dzyodrze area the Oder River waters or launching a boat in one Land located between the two branches of the Lagoon ports.
