OVERVIEW – THE MEDICAL COLLEGE, PAKISTAN The Aga Khan University Medical College in Pakistan was established in 1983, as a part of the University’s Faculty of Health Sciences. The Medical College faculty has a tripartite mission of provision of quality patient care, creating new knowledge through research and educating the leaders of tomorrow. Pakistan and other developing countries have unique challenges and AKU, being a first-world institution in a third-world setting, is in a singular position to help solve these problems through research and training. The research portfolio of the faculty is diverse and is spread across the basic sciences, translational, clinical and public health domains.
