<p> FYI FYI FYI FYI F O R Y O U R I N F O R M A T I O N Issue 04-38 Date: 12/04</p><p>NON-DETAINED PETITIONS</p><p>This is advise staff that the CSWs should consider the use and appropriateness of filing a non- detained petitions as a case strategy to support the reduction of the number of youth that enter out-of-home care.</p><p>Non-detained petitions may be filed at any time when the assessment of a family leads to the conclusion that the safety and protection of a child requires judicial intervention, but immediate detention is not warranted. </p><p>Whenever possible and when available in the office/SPA CSWs are to utilize the Family-Centered Team Decision Making approach to determine if filing a non-detained petition is appropriate in lieu of court intervention.
