<p>PLACEMENT SPECIFICATION – REF – HLF3/08/</p><p>Bursary Title: Conservation and Workshop Joinery</p><p>Placement Provider: Hayburn & Co Galgorm Road Ballymena BT42 1JU</p><p>Placement Location: Galgorm Road, Ballymena</p><p>1. Key Duties of Post:</p><p> Manufacturing and fitting of windows, doors, shutters, linings and associated ironmongery.</p><p> Manufacturing of bespoke furniture.</p><p> Restoration and conservation of woodwork in pre-1919 buildings.</p><p> Operation of wood working machinery (for the manufacture of timber components).</p><p> Interpreting dimensional drawings.</p><p> Handling and preparation of materials.</p><p>2. Essential Criteria:</p><p> At least 2 years relevant work experience gained through placement or paid employment in the construction or built heritage sector.</p><p> Hold an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or an Industry Registration Scheme Blue card in Carpentry/Joinery or be willing to achieve the Blue Card, at your own expense, prior to commencement of the placement.</p><p> Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to developing your skills to work in the built heritage sector.  Ability to comply with the requirements of the placement.</p><p> Prepared to register for and work towards the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heritage Skills (Construction) in Wood Occupations.</p><p> Prepared to attend a 4 week off-the-job training programme at CITB NI and England as part of the NVQ process.</p><p> Possess a UK Bank or Building Society Account</p><p>3. Post Specific Criteria:</p><p> The ability to select and use appropriate hand tools to manufacture and repair period doors, windows, linings and wood panelling.</p><p> Well-developed practical joinery skills.</p><p> The ability to produce timber based items.</p><p> A willingness to disseminate skills, knowledge and experience to other members of the team.</p><p> A willingness to work in a close team under supervision of the team leader.</p><p> Demonstrate an understanding of conservation approaches.</p><p> A willingness to learn new skills and techniques.</p><p> Ability to demonstrate mobility for transport to and from work each day.</p><p>4. Desirable Competencies:</p><p> NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or an Industry Registration Scheme Gold card in Carpentry/Joinery. Duration: 1 Year (261 days) Full-time</p><p>Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm Friday – 8:00am-2:15pm</p><p>Bursary: £15,000 tax free</p>
