Staircase</p><p>What can you do to a staircase to protect him but still allow him to explore?</p><p>Answer: Use a safety gate or block it with something from the home. Always assist a young child when learning how to go up/down the steps.</p><p>2. Snack</p><p>Instead of asking “Aiden, what would you like for a snack?” what could you say so that Aiden chooses a more healthy snack? </p><p>Answer: “Aiden, would you like an apple or a piece of string cheese for snack today?”</p><p>3. Preparing Lunch</p><p>What might you do with Sandy while you are cooking to keep her safe? Answer: Allow her to play with safe cooking materials such as pots and pans. If she has her own cooking toys let her pretend to make her own food while you prepare lunch.</p><p>4. Outside Safety</p><p>What do you do? </p><p>Answer: Tell the kids to stop and stay where they are. Either get the ball yourself or teach kids to look both ways and listen for traffic before running into the street. 6. Interrupted Bath Time</p><p>What should you do? </p><p>Answer: Never leave a baby alone in a bathtub! Ignore the doorbell. If it is important, someone will call the home phone or the parent’s cell and leave a message.</p><p>7. Bed Time</p><p>To handle this situation, what do you do and say to Suzy? </p><p>Answer: Tell Suzy instead of watching TV, she can choose a bedtime story that you will read to her. Help her pick out a book while she changes into her pajamas. </p><p>8. Changing a Diaper</p><p>What might occur if Celeste were left on the bed? </p><p>Answer: Celeste could roll off the bed and hit her head falling to the floor. She could also make a mess on the bed in the process.</p>
