<p>May 25, 2017</p><p>Dear Parents/Guardians,</p><p>Project Reach is a youth and adult-run, drop-in center and anti-discrimination/social justice training space which brings together young people from around New York City and beyond, who would otherwise never meet. </p><p>On Wednesday, May 31st Council Member Debi Rose, New Dorp HS, Staten Island Technical HS and Project Reach will host an important, 1-day, intensive, cross- community, Anti-Discrimination Training designed to train students to identify, examine, and understand discrimination – personal, institutional, systemic, and global – and develop interventions which proactively challenge bias, bullying, and discrimination in their schools and communities.</p><p>Your child, ______, has been selected to be part of this exciting awareness and skills-building endeavor. Schools and organizations invited to participate include those whose teachers, counselors and staff attended a 1-day Anti- Discrimination Training for educators which took place on May 25th.</p><p>The goal of this Training is to create community/school-based, Anti-Discrimination Teams of students and adults, who are equipped to address inter-group tensions and discrimination through peer interventions, awareness-building workshops, and youth and adult-facilitated trainings.</p><p>The Training will be Wednesday, May 31st beginning at 8:30am and ending at 4:00pm and will be held at the New Dorp High School, 465 New Dorp Lane, Staten Island, NY 10306.</p><p>The Clinic will include interactive workshops and critical group discussion with topics covering discrimination (race, class, gender, age, sexual orientation, immigrant bias, etc.), bullying and a range of social justice issues.</p><p>If you have any questions, please call us at (917) 749-6116 and thank you for your time and support of all of our youth communities.</p><p>Sincerely,</p><p>Don Kao</p><p>Don Kao Director</p><p>______Participant Signature Parent/Guardian Signature</p><p> under the auspices of CHINESE AMERICAN PLANNING COUNCIL, INC.
