<p> MBTA Department of System-Wide Accessibility (SWA) Weekly Update Sunday 3/13/11 - Saturday 3/19/11</p><p>General Activities:</p><p> Met with/or attended: o Human Resources to discuss System-Wide Accessibility Coordinator position o Marketing and Customer Service to discuss customer complaint process o MassDOT ADA Transition Plan sub-committee on accessible public meetings. o Manufacturer of the QPOD securement device system at Charlestown Bus garage o Interdepartmental committee regarding revisions to MBTA Baby Stroller special order o Interdepartmental work group on enhancements to Reduced Fare CharlieCard program</p><p> Other: o Presented “How Can I Help You Today?” training to MassDOT front-line employees o Developed service alert text for Porter Sq. Red Line shuttle Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority o Participated on 2011 APTA Rail ConferenceTen Park Planning Plaza, Boston, MA 02116 Committee conference call www.mbta.com Design and Engineering Activities: </p><p> Reviewed plans/drawings/specifications; submitted comments on: o Revised layouts of curb ramps for improved pedestrian flow for Dudley Bus Station o Proposed improvements for Community College Station o Site inspection report on Dudley Bus Station with proposed improvements for pedestrian-friendly circulation throughout the station</p><p> Conducted site inspections/site visits: o Dudley Bus Station for proposed police kiosk</p><p> Met with: o MBTA Elevator Design Standard Committee o Project Development Group (PDG) about Orient Heights Station o Design committee for review of access and egress for Orient Heights Station o Project Development Group (PDG) for Orient Heights Station Reconstruction Project o Design & Construction, Operations Support and vertical transportation contractor to discuss MBTA Elevator Design Standards o Staff from General Manager's office, Design & Construction, Operations and Transit Police to discuss Dudley Station improvements project</p><p>SWA Weekly Update 3/19/11 Page 2 of 3 Customer Complaint Tracking Activities:</p><p> 5 customer complaints; 3 complainants o Fixed Route: 4 complaints - 2 forwarded to Office of Diversity & Civil Rights (ODCR) o THE RIDE: 1 complaint  1 commendation – fixed route</p><p>Internal Access Monitoring (IAM) Program Activities:</p><p> 11 Monitors conducted 50 trips throughout all of fixed route system (46 Bus; 3 Subway; 1 Commuter Rail)  Continue generating internal monitoring report for Q2-10  Forwarded 2 violations to ODCR for investigation  Revised the station survey instrument</p><p>Reduced Fare CharlieCard Program Activities: </p><p> Issued 1157 reduced-fare CharlieCards: o 693 Senior CharlieCards o 432 Transportation Access Pass (TAP) CharlieCards o 25 Blind Access CharlieCards o 7 “THE RIDE” CharlieCards  Reviewed 245 Transportation Access Pass CharlieCard applications  Processed 197 account deposits for customers of the MBTA Paratransit program THE RIDE </p><p>SWA Weekly Update 3/19/11 Page 3 of 3</p>
