Beeline Highway/SR 87 Phone: (480)941-3427 S c o t t s d a l e , A Z 8 5 2 5 6 F a x : ( 4 8 0 ) 9 4 9 - 4 2 6 1</p><p>Salt River Landfill</p><p>CLASS SPECIFICATION STARTING PAY: $13.83 per hour OPERATOR I</p><p>Definition: Under general supervision, performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled work associated with the operation and maintenance of the Salt River Landfill.</p><p>Tasks:</p><p>Learn basic maintenance (pre/post trip) on blade and landfill compactor.</p><p>Learn to operate the blade and landfill compactor. </p><p>Develop an understanding of the operation of the CAES system on the landfill compactors and how to use them properly. </p><p>Operates wheel loader/fork lift/broom to load chipper with green waste, load and unload pallets of materials, to sweep roadways and parking lots.</p><p>Operates a water wagon to wet haul roads and those roads where cars, trucks, and commercial sanitation vehicles are driving to minimize the amount of dirt/dust in the air.</p><p>Operates a roll off truck to load and unload roll off bins.</p><p>Performs a variety of general grounds keeping activities, including picking up trash and brush, and sets up barricades and portable fencing for work areas.</p><p>Assists with the maintenance of Landfill grounds both manually and by using equipment for tasks such as digging, hauling or spreading dirt, concrete, and rock.</p><p>Directs traffic to appropriate parking and dumping locations and inspects loads ensuring that inappropriate material does not come into the landfill.</p><p>Performs a variety of building maintenance and repair tasks, including cleaning, changing light bulbs, setting up tables and chairs for special events.</p><p>Uses the ZONAR system to perform pre-trip inspections and record any break downs.</p><p>Inspects (including equipment without ZONAR system) and performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment operated.</p><p>Wash landfill equipment as needed.</p><p>Miscellaneous jobs and duties as requested. Beeline Highway/SR 87 Phone: (480)941-3427 S c o t t s d a l e , A Z 8 5 2 5 6 F a x : ( 4 8 0 ) 9 4 9 - 4 2 6 1</p><p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:</p><p> Knowledge of basic Landfill safety procedures.  Knowledge of basic maintenance (pre/post trip) on water wagon, roll-off truck and loader.  Ability to proficiently operate the water wagon, roll-off truck and loader.  Ability to operate and communicate over a two-way radio.</p><p>Minimum Qualifications:</p><p>Must possess a valid Arizona operator’s license and be insurable under tribal insurer requirements (e.g., be age 21 or over, no DUI convictions within the last 5 years, no reckless driving, no speeding tickets in excess of 15 mph over the posted speed limit, no more than one at-fault accident, and no more than three speeding tickets within the last 3 years).
