
<p>ATTACHMENT #1 FY15 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program Application City of Brunswick; Brunswick, Georgia CDFA #16.738</p><p>PROGRAM NARRATIVE 1) Patrol and Detective Divisions of the Brunswick Police Department are currently in need of </p><p>23 body cameras. These devices will allow officers to be able to document activity out in the </p><p> field to effectively provide proof when submitting evidence for prosecution. Additionally, </p><p> the body cameras will allow officers to be able to document their actions during an arrest, </p><p> interactions with the community, a traffic stop, or in the event of responding to a shooting or </p><p> a crime. The body cameras will also allow the option to collect photos of gang graffiti. The </p><p> following are budget items are detailed in Attachments 2a and 2b.</p><p> a. Twenty three body cameras to be assigned to the Patrol and Detective Divisions</p><p>2) The Patrol and Detective Divisions are currently in need of three data transfer charger </p><p> docking stations to be used in conjunction with the 23 body cameras being requested above. </p><p>The stations will allow officers to download the information from the device to a PC and </p><p> then save this information for further analysis if necessary. The stations also serve as </p><p> charging stations. The following are budget items are detailed in Attachments 2a and 2b.</p><p> a. Three Data Transfer Charger Docking stations </p><p>3) The Patrol Division is currently in need of seven Laser Labs Windows Tint Meters to be </p><p> used out in the field. These devices will allow officers the ability to measure the legality of </p><p> an automotive window tint. This is of particular interest to the Brunswick Police Department </p><p> since criminal activity is at times concealed under the curtain of tinted windows. The </p><p> following are budget items are detailed in Attachments 2a and 2b.</p><p> a. Seven Laser Labs Windows Tint Meters. </p><p>4) The Patrol Division is currently in need five mobile thermal printers to be installed in five </p><p> traffic vehicles. The printers will be connected to the existing lap tops carried in patrol cars </p><p> and will allow officers to print citations and replace the hand written citations. Printed </p><p> citations will allow clarity of court date, traffic violation and the officers’ name and I.D. </p><p> number. The following are budget items are detailed in Attachments 2a and 2b. Five Brother Pocketjet 6 Plus Mobile Thermal Printers</p><p>5) The Patrol Division is currently in need of five Alco-sensors to be used out in the field. The </p><p>Brunswick Police Department is in need of more alco-sensors since not all traffic officers </p><p> have one. Due to the shortage of these devices within the Brunswick Police Department in </p><p> the event a traffic officer needs one during a traffic stop (is the suspicion that the individual </p><p> is driving under the influence of alcohol) the officer has to radio out to borrow another </p><p> officer’s alcohol sensors. The delay in testing the individual and waiting for the alcohol </p><p> sensor to get to get to the officer puts the officer at risk since. Having the ability to promptly </p><p> test for alcohol someone who may have been driving under the influence effectively reduce </p><p> the likelihood of any harm to the officer and to other drivers. The following are budget items </p><p> are detailed in Attachments 2a and 2b.</p><p> a. Five Intoximeters Alcohol Sensors </p><p> b. Eight Boxes of the disposable mouth pieces needed to use the Alcohol sensors. </p><p>6) The Patrol Division for the Brunswick Police Department is currently in need of five </p><p> magnetic card and code readers. This technology will allow officers the capability to read </p><p> any government issued ID card with a magnetic strip and determine if it is a valid or </p><p> fraudulent card. The following are budget items are detailed in Attachments 2a and 2b.</p><p> a. Five Magnetic Card and Bar Code readers Model 260, incorporates a magnetic strip </p><p> readers with an advanced technology incorporating a 2D barcode as well. </p>
