The meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m.</p><p>2. It was moved by Burns, seconded by Avenarius, and carried to approve the minutes of </p><p>Wednesday, February 08, 2017 </p><p>II Reports and Announcements Presenter</p><p>1. Provost Announcements Patrick </p><p>The Academic Planning Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 4:00 p.m. for location, please see the Academic </p><p>Planning Council (APC) website. The Provost signed the new degree type for the Bachelor of Fine Arts, but she Hagen</p><p> would like to see more labor statistics and job market for students in future </p><p> requests. </p><p>2. APC Chair Announcements Andrew </p><p>P Provost will attend a future meeting to review and discuss the program Pawl/ Travis </p><p> requirements she would like to see. Forensic Investigation Crime Scene and Lab Emphases [New Sub-Major Proposal] Staci </p><p>This proposal for an emphasis is trying to resolve two issues identified by two Strobl/ </p><p> external reviewers; Tracking students for specific jobs after they have a Valerie </p><p> degree and helping students understand the expectations and difference of Stackman</p><p> the Criminalistics program in EMS. The meetings are open to the public university staff are invited to attend. 2018. </p><p>Strobl stated currently Criminal Justice program does not have any emphases </p><p> and fifteen professionals across the state that reviewed this proposal and all </p><p> were in support. She also stated that this would be one of the few in the </p><p>United States; therefore, it would be hard to do a comparison across the </p><p> system. </p><p>Extensive discussion ensued about the number of credits being 36 (low) for a </p><p> major. Strobl explained the reasoning. </p><p>2. Agricultural Education [delinquent Form B] Travis </p><p>The Academic Planning Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 4:00 p.m. for location, please see the Academic </p><p>Planning Council (APC) website. The meetings are open to the public university staff are invited to attend. The program has missed the deadline again. Extensive discussion ensued Nelson</p><p> about the consequences. It was noted that as of February 17 Agricultural </p><p>Education no longer has a program coordinator. Mark Zidon program </p><p> coordinator for Agribusiness has volunteered to complete Form B. After </p><p> further discussion about the lack of feedback to the director and department </p><p> chair, and who is responsible for enforcing the consequences the following </p><p> action was taken: </p><p>MOTION: It was moved by burns, seconded by Avenarius, and carried </p><p> unanimously to give Ag Ed program until March 31to submit the report, </p><p> providing the chairs of APC receive confirmation of the author of the report. </p><p>The Academic Planning Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 4:00 p.m. for location, please see the Academic </p><p>Planning Council (APC) website. There will be further discussion regarding the consequences at the next </p><p> meeting. </p><p>Mike Compton the director of Agriculture stated that he would like to see </p><p> review of all the Agriculture programs at the same time. He also shared his </p><p> concerns about not receiving results from the review until a year after the </p><p> program has presented and reported. </p><p>3. Approval of Form B APC Reviews [Agribusiness, Technical Education, Travis </p><p>F Environmental Horticultural, Animal Science, Industrial Studies, and Reclamation] Nelson</p><p>MOTION: It was moved by Hansen, seconded by Burns, and carried </p><p>The Academic Planning Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 4:00 p.m. for location, please see the Academic </p><p>Planning Council (APC) website. The meetings are open to the public university staff are invited to attend. unanimously to approve Agribusiness report as presented. </p><p>MOTION: It was moved by Hansen, seconded by Kinwa-Muzinga, and carried </p><p> unanimously to approve Reclamation as presented and checking the box </p><p>“modifying the program in form or direction.”</p><p>MOTION: It was moved by Avenarius, seconded by Pawl, and carried </p><p> unanimously to approve Technical Education report as presented which </p><p> includes a recommendation that they report back and to check box number 1. </p><p>MOTION: It was moved by Hansen, seconded by Anderson, and carried </p><p>The Academic Planning Council meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 4:00 p.m. for location, please see the Academic </p><p>Planning Council (APC) website.
