<p>Scottish Wildlife Trust Job Description</p><p>Title Community Jobs Scotland Assistant 35 hours per week for 26 weeks for 18-24 year olds, or 39 weeks for 16-17 year olds Based Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre Dept/Region Marketing and Business Development Line Manager Visitor Centre Assistant Manager</p><p>Overall Purpose of the Job</p><p>To assist the Visitor Centre (VC) Regional and Assistant Manager to operate a first class customer care service, retail and interpretation outlet for visitors and help meet the membership objectives of the Scottish Wildlife Trust (SWT)</p><p>Main Objectives</p><p>Assist in day to day running of the VC including set up of retail and exhibition areas</p><p>Provide first class customer care and visitor services, running the reception and exhibition area, promote the work of SWT and raise the profile of Loch of the Lowes Wildlife Reserve</p><p>Meet set and agreed membership recruitment targets</p><p>Maximise sales, donations and commercial returns from the VC</p><p>Assist in the running of the planned programme of events and children’s activities</p><p>Raise the profile of SWT and Loch of the Lowes Visitor Centre & Reserve by providing effective and innovative information</p><p>Provide live interpretation of the wildlife at Loch of the Lowes within the Visitor Centre & hides</p><p>Contribute to social media outputs e.g. blog/twitter</p><p>Provide occasional staff cover for local off site events</p><p>Provide occasional support to the Perthshire Ranger with practical conservation work days Scottish Wildlife Trust Job Description</p><p>Key Internal & External Contacts</p><p> Regional Visitor Centre Manager, Perthshire & Angus  Assistant Visitor Centre Manager and Visitor Centre Assistant  Reserve Manager and Ranger  General members of SWT and members of the visiting public</p><p>Personal Specification</p><p>Qualifications /Experience Essential Desirable </p><p>Phd/MSc/Degree Standard Grades X Proven experience and X results in working in a customer focused organisation Experience in sales X Experience in tourism X</p><p>Core Competencies (see Essential Desirable below for full description) 1 Technology and X knowledge 2 Organisation and X planning 3 Flexibility X 4 Communication X 5 Problem Solving X 6 Innovation, initiative X and creativity 7 Continuous Learning X 8 Judgement X 9 Teamwork X 10 Commitment to Health X & Safety 11 Commitment to X organisational culture, values and vision Scottish Wildlife Trust Job Description</p><p>Additional Requirements:</p><p>Full Driving Licence desirable</p><p>Special Requirements:</p><p>Willingness to develop wildlife ID skills Empathy for conservation and wildlife</p><p>Date 17th March 2015 Author Caroline Hendry Position Regional Visitor Centre Manager, Perthshire & Angus</p>
