<p>Science 10 Exam Outline January, 2016</p><p>NOTE/ HINT: USE YOUR SUSTAINABILITY /PHYSICS TESTS TO REFRESH</p><p>What to Bring  Pencils, eraser, ruler, calculator, pens</p><p>PART A:</p><p> Multiple Choice  Matching  True or False  Fill in the blanks  Graphing  Completion of Tables  Calculations  Short Answer</p><p>Make sure you review the following:</p><p>Chemistry  Classification of Matter (Chem Prep Assignment)  Periodic Table - how it’s organized, what info is found in it, what do the groups and periods represent?  What does an atom of an element consist of - nucleus (protons, neutrons), electrons in orbitals  Metals vs non-metals  Common House Chemicals know some examples & how it affects building your house</p><p>Weather  Weather vs Climate  Heat Transfer: Conduction, Convection and Radiation  Weather Myths  Building your House and how Weather impacts the design</p><p>Motion  Graphing Skills - know how to interpret a graph, and how to properly draw one and describe what the graph is representing  Understand the difference between a vector and a scalar  Know the definitions of displacement, distance, speed, velocity, etc...  Understanding Position vs Time graphs  Motion and building your house</p><p>Sustainability  Food Chains / Webs and energy transfer – be able to draw one and understand that there is loss of energy at every transfer (link) in a chain  Be able to label the various types of organisms (predator, primary consumer, decomposer, etc)  Cycling of nutrients in an ecosystem – carbon cycle  Causes of global warming  Equations for photosynthesis & respiration  What does the term sustainability mean?  Bio-Dome questions  What are some sustainable issues building your house</p><p>PART B: House Essay Question</p><p> Refer to the House Power Point on my Website as you read through the Essay Expectations.  Bring your research, ideas and thoughts in well planned out jot notes so you can compose your essay on Exam day.</p><p>Throughout our time in Science 10, we have related our studies to “building a house” in Nova Scotia. Your task is to compose an essay where you demonstrate your knowledge of each of our 4 Units showing how each relates to building your house. If you would like to sketch, draw your house to illustrate your concepts or even bring a model with your concepts outlined. See me to discuss your choice before the exam.</p><p>Essay Components:</p><p> Introduction: Explain to the reader what your objective is for this essay and how you will demonstrate your ideas.  How does the house relate to each science? Here you will address each question from our Power Point with your ideas and research to answer each question.
