
<p> Golf Unit</p><p>The Course: The course is divided into 4 areas: teeing grounds (tee box), hazards (water, bunkers), through the green (fairways) and putting greens. </p><p>Play: Player starts on the teeing ground. After teeing off, play continues toward the green with the player farthest from the hole hitting first. </p><p>Scoring: Par – The number of strokes that it should take to get the ball in the hole. Birdie – one under par. Eagle – two under par. Bogey – one over par. Double bogey – two over par (and so on).</p><p>Clubs: A player may carry up to 14 clubs in their bag. Clubs commonly used are: Driver Fairway woods – 3, 4, or 5 Rescue clubs Irons – 3,4,5,6,7,8,9, pitching wedge, sand wedge, lob wedge (as numbers get bigger – loft is increased.)</p><p>Golf Etiquette:</p><p>The Spirit of the Game The game is played without for the most part referees. It relies on the integrity of the individual to abide by the rules.</p><p>Safety- Players should not play until the players in front are out of range. If a player plays a ball in the direction of where another player is standing. A warning of “fore” should be shouted.</p><p>Consideration for other players- Don’t disturb other people’s play. Electronic devices should be turned off. Don’t stand too close to someone playing his or her ball. On the putting green players should not walk in another players line to the hole. Everyone stays on the green until everyone has holed out.</p><p>Pace of Play- Play at a good pace. Be ready to play your shot when it is your turn. Play a provisional ball if a ball may be lost out of bounds. Only look for lost balls for a short time.</p><p>Care of Course Bunkers should be raked. Players should repair divots. Players should avoid unnecessary damage. Always follow the directions posted for the carts. Always replace the flagstick in the hole before leaving the putting green.</p>
