To allure-entice-trap-strong attraction-snare 2 Corinthians 2:11/ NLT Proverbs- Satan seeks the precious Life Judges 14-16- Samson- Made little compromises Proverbs- You can’t take fire in your bosom and not get burned Sin is pleasurable for a Season</p><p>Why not to Sin? 1. Effects your Relationship with God/ Sin makes us feel guilty and unclean 2. Ruins your Witness 3. Death- wages of sin is death/Proverbs- there is a way that seems right to a man, but the end is death.</p><p>James 1:13-15/NLT- Your own lust and desire/Not God tempting Romans 6:10-14/NLT- You have a new nature that has power to overcome sin Vs. 14 – Sin will not be your Master</p><p>“A temptation arises: it is the wind; it disturbs you; it is the surging of the seas. This is the time to awaken Christ and let him remind you of these words “Who can this be? Even the winds and waves obey Him.” St. Augustine</p><p>Galatians 5:24/NLT- Crucify them once and for all and leave them there. Romans 6- Read in the Message Overcoming Temptation Part 2- Caught Napping</p><p>Romans 7:15-25/NKJV Galatians 5:16/NKJV</p><p>“We usually know what we can do, but temptation show us who we are.” Thomas a’ Kempis</p><p>James 1:14- Our Desire Romans 13:14- Provision for the Flesh- NLT- “And don’t think about ways to indulge your evil desires” Romans 8:5/NKJV/NLT</p><p>Hebrews – Jesus was tempted everyway we are, but without sin Luke 4:1-14-Jesus overcame temptation by Speaking God’s Word His spirit controlled all of his decisions You can not overcome thoughts with thoughts; you have to speak to them</p><p>Galatians 5:16/ NLT- Let the Holy Spirit guide your lives So that you don’t do what your sinful nature craves.</p><p>Romans7:15-25/ the Living Bible Vs. 25-The Message- Thank God the answer is Jesus Christ can and does</p><p>Extremes – All works and Flesh Asceticism- Extreme lifestyle of self denial of all pleasures Focusing on yourself and your discipline and not on what Jesus Did Flesh cannot defeat flesh</p><p>Matthew 12:43-45</p><p>Philippians 2:13/NLT-Giving you the desire to obey him and the power to do what pleases Him</p><p>Keep yourself full of God’s Spirit Ephesians 5:18</p><p>(ASV) And be not drunken with wine, wherein is riot, but be filled with the Spirit; </p><p>(CEV) Don't destroy yourself by getting drunk, but let the Spirit fill your life. </p><p>(GNB) Do not get drunk with wine, which will only ruin you; instead, be filled with the Spirit. </p><p>When you are empty, you will let anything fill you.
