<p>PRFC – Code of Conduct for coaches, volunteers and members of staff</p><p>Coaches, volunteers and members of staff:</p><p> Must respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person and treat everyone equally within the context of their sport.</p><p> Must place the well-being and safety of the child above the development of performance. They should follow all the guidelines laid down by the IRFU Ulster Branch.</p><p> Must develop an appropriate working relationship with participants, especially children, based on mutual trust and respect. Coaches must not exert undue influence to obtain personal benefit or reward.</p><p> Must encourage and guide participants to accept responsibility for their own behaviour.</p><p> Should hold up to date recognised IRFU Ulster Branch coaching qualifications (not applicable to volunteers and members of staff)</p><p> Must have read the IRFU Child Welfare Policy Document and signed and returned the Declaration of Intent to the Child Welfare Officer within the club.</p><p> Must ensure the activities they direct or advocate are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individual</p><p> Should at the outset clarify with participants and where appropriate their parents exactly what is expected of them and what participants are entitled to expect from the coach</p><p> Should cooperate with other specialists within the club e.g. other coaches, officials etc in the best interests of the participants</p><p> Should always promote the positive aspects of rugby e.g. fair play and never condone rule violations or the use of prohibited substances</p><p> Should not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any substance</p><p> Must consistently display high standards of behaviour and appearance</p><p> Should report any concerns within the area of child welfare in confidence and without delay to the Child Welfare Officer within the club</p><p>Portadown Rugby Football Club, Chambers Park, Portadown, BT63 5AR, Tel 028 38335269 Web: www.portadownrugbyclub.co.uk</p>
