<p> PREPOSITIONS</p><p>A preposition is a word (or group of words) that shows the relationship between its object (a noun or pronoun that follows the preposition) and another word in the sentence. </p><p>Ex: The dog sat under the large tree. </p><p>(under shows the relationship between the verb, sat, and the object of the preposition, tree) </p><p>A prepositional phrase includes the preposition, the object of the preposition, and the modifiers of the object. A prepositional phrase may function as an adverb or an adjective.</p><p>Little girls run from spiders. (The phrase modifies the verb , run) </p><p>Little girls with inquisitive minds enjoy their company.
