Students remain on the school premises so they are able to stay in a familiar location the whole day.

Staff

Programs before and after school hours are led by early childhood educators (ECEs) who are registered members of the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Program Content

The program content for the before- and after-school program is integrated with what happens during the regular school day. When planning activities for the before- and after-school program, ECEs use the draft Extended-Day Program – Full-Day Early Learning – Kindergarten Program developed by the Ministry of Education, or a similar document such as Early Learning for Every Child Today. The Extended-Day Program complements the play-based curriculum that teachers and ECEs use to plan activities and lessons during the core school day. The program includes a mix of activities including quiet reading time, activities in the gym or outside, and creative play in the classroom [THE BOARD MAY WISH TO INCLUDE OTHER DETAILS SPECIFIC TO ITS PROGRAM].

Program Information

For the [INSERT YEAR] school year, the before- and after-school program runs from [INSERT FIRST DAY OF PROGRAM] to [INSERT LAST DAY OF PROGRAM].

[INDICATE THE BOARD’S POLICIES WITH RESPECT TO REGISTRATION, INCLUDING DATES]

[IF PART-TIME ATTENDANCE IS AN OPTION, INDICATE SO HERE]

Page 3 of 9 [IF THE PROGRAM OPERATES ON STATUTORY HOLIDAYS, PD DAYS AND SCHOOL BREAKS WITHIN THE SCHOOL, INDICATE THIS HERE]

[IF THE PROGRAM OPERATES DURING THE SUMMER, INDICATE THIS HERE]

[IF THE PROGRAM DOES NOT OPERATE ON NON-INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS AND/OR IN THE SUMMER, INDICATE ALTERNATIVE CHILD CARE OPTIONS HERE]

[BOARD NAME]’s before- and after-school program is inclusive of all students, including those with special education needs.

Hours of Operation

[INDICATE START AND FINISH TIMES FOR BEFORE SCHOOL PROGRAMS – E.G. 7:00 A.M. – THE START OF THE SCHOOL DAY]

[INDICATE START AND FINISH TIMES FOR AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS – E.G.
