Metals are shiny, flexible, good conductors. Nonmetals are dull, brittle, poor conductors. Metalloids are everything in between metals and nonmetals. o Ex: Silicon Symbols stand for each element. o Ex: “C”-Carbon, “Au”- Gold</p><p>How are the elements organized?</p><p> Dimitri Mendeleev-Russian scientist made the periodic table. Atomic number-related to the mass of each element. There are 112 elements. Rows in table are called periods. Columns are called groups. Iron, cobalt, nickel are magnetic.</p><p>How do scientists use the periodic table? Bananas have lots of potassium (K). Fluorine and other elements in its column form salt.</p>
