To prepare for success, students need opportunities to learn, reinforce, apply, and transfer knowledge and skills in a variety of settings. Suggested small animals which may be included in the course of study include, but are not limited to, small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, avian, dogs, and cats. At the end of this course, you will… . Describe the importance of responsible small animal ownership. . Learn the hazards associated with working in the small animal industry. . Evaluate current topics in animal rights and animal welfare. . Know the care and management requirements for a variety of small animals. . Examine career opportunities in small animal care. . Learn the employability characteristics of a successful employee. . Develop a supervised agriculture experience program as it relates to agriculture, food, and natural resources.
