<p> All Kinds of Editing for the Poetry Paragraph</p><p>You’ll need a title for the paragraph. It should be something that’s important to your thesis, like the theme. You should use Times New Roman, 12 point font, and double spaced lines.</p><p>1) You need a strong topic sentence: </p><p>Include the names of both poet and poem AND artist and painting Include the theme, what you’ll be proving/asserting (your thesis), and a qualifying clause.</p><p>2) You’ll need an embedded direct quote from the poem that proves your thesis. You’ll also need to cite line or stanza numbers.</p><p>3) You’ll next need to write 2 sentences that comment on how or why your chosen quote proves your thesis.</p><p>4) Now it’s time to describe the painting and how it proves your thesis. </p><p>5) Next is two sentences that comment on how or why the things you’ve said about the painting prove your thesis.</p><p>6) Finally, write a concluding sentence that sums up your investigation of the thesis and how it’s reflected in both poem and painting.
