Terrier men’s golf, women’s volleyball, men’s swim- ming & diving, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s water polo, were all cited as having scored in the top 10 percent in each sport with respect to their Academic Progress Rates (APRs). The men’s swimming and diving squad was one of just 13 programs to have a perfect APR score in their sport. Forty St. Francis Brooklyn student-athletes joined 160 of their classmates during the College’s Spring Commencement held May 13 at Brooklyn Acad- emy of Music. Valedictorian Matthew Delfino, who was a two-year member of the men’s track & field team, delivered a spirited and emotional address to nearly 400 of his classmates during the St. Fran- cis College Spring Commencement held May 13 at Brooklyn Academy of Music. 10 SUCCESS IN THE CLASSROOM Junior David Lonnberg was the recipient of the Elite 89 award for the 2013 NCAA Men’s Water Polo Championship. It was the second straight year that he’s been selected for this prestigious award. Lonnberg, majoring in Political Science, carries a 3.968 GPA. He was presented with the award at the NCAA Final Four Banquet. The Elite 89, an award founded by the NCAA, recog- nizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achiev- ing the highest academic standard among his or her peers. Sarah Benedetti, David Lonnberg, and Jamey Veney were inducted into the Duns Scotus Honor Society. Founded in 1935, the Duns Scotus Society is named for the Blessed Duns Scotus, a Franciscan scholar and champion of Our Lady’s Immaculate Conception. Election to membership in the Society is based on scholastic standing, participation in extracurricular ac- tivities, evidence of loyalty to the ideals of St. Francis College and demonstration of a true Franciscan spirit. The St. Francis Brooklyn women’s basketball team finished fourth in the WBCA (D1)with an incredible 3.608 combined grade point average. In addition, the Terriers earned their third consecutive Northeast Conference Team Institutional Award in their sport after earning the highest g.p.a. in the league. Junior point guard Katie Fox was recently named one of the 20 winners of the 12th Annual Division I-AAA Ath- letics Directors Association (DI-AAA ADA) Scholar- Athlete Team. Fox owns a perfect 4.0 grade point av- erage in English and History. In addition, 11 Terriers were named to the NEC’s Academic Honor Roll and four student-athletes, Fox, Jaymee Veney, Sarah Bene- detti, and Taylor Watson , were selected to the NEC Commissioner Honor Roll. 11 SUCCESS IN THE CLASSROOM 2013-14 Northeast Conference Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll (3.75 GPA or higher) Athlete Year Sport Major Jack Binks Junior Men’s Soccer English & Psychology Anthony Campagnano Senior Men’s Soccer Psychology Paul Galimi Freshman Men’s Soccer Management John Johansson Senior Men’s Soccer Management Aleksandar Gavric Junior Men’s Water Polo Management David Lonnberg Senior Men’s Water Polo Political Science & Economics Tyler Perkins Senior Men’s Water Polo Philosophy & English Liam Veazey Sophomore Men’s Water Polo Political Science & History Luka Vukomanovic Senior Men’s Water Polo Economics Milicia Mladjenovic Freshman Women’s Volleyball Communication Arts Slavica Stefanovic Senior Women’s Volleyball Communication Arts 2013-14 Northeast Conference Winter Commissioner’s Honor Roll (3.75 GPA or higher) Athlete Year Sport Major Sarah Benedetti Junior Women's Basketball Political Science Katie Fox Junior Women's Basketball History & English Jaymee Veney Junior Women's Basketball Criminal Justice & Psychology Taylor Watson Sophomore Women's Basketball Social Studies & Health Promotions Meghan Wing Freshman Women's Bowling Mathematics Gareth Livingstone Junior Men's Swimming Management & Economics David Lonnberg Junior Men's Swimming Political Science & Economics Tyler Perkins Senior Men's Swimming Philosophy & English Liam Veazey Sophomore Men's Swimming Political Science & History Anne Kuczynski Freshman Women's Swimming Accounting-CPA Track Matt Delfino Senior Men's Indoor Track Political Science Sandra Raickovic Sophomore Women's Indoor Track Management & Accounting Briona Wallace Freshman Women's Indoor Track Management 2013-14 Northeast Conference Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll (3.75 GPA or higher) Athlete Year Sport Major Alyssa Sinclair Freshman Women’s Golf Economics/Mathematics Alana Hernandez Senior Women’s Water Polo International Cultural Studies Dragana Dzigurski Sophomore Women’s Tennis Communication Arts Natasha Edwards Senior Women’s Tennis Psychology/Int.
