Stage 3 Learning Plans Materials Needed: Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes A large sheet of paper Maker</p><p>Sequence of Teacher Actions: *Motivation/Attention Getter &  Teacher will ask the students to define what a bully is Tie to Previous Learning  Teacher will then ask if anyone has ever been bullied  Teacher will ask how did it make you feel  Teacher will ask how did you solve the problem  Teacher will draw a picture of a person on the large piece of paper </p><p>*Significant Teacher Actions to  Teacher will then instruct the students to crumble it up one time and pass Introduce and Guide Lesson it to the next person every time they hear a negative comment made in the book Chrysanthemum  Teacher will then flatten the paper out and discuss what the paper now looks like  Teacher will explain that this is how Chrysanthemum feels after all the comments made  Teacher will instruct the class to say out loud, “I’m sorry Chrysanthemum”  Teacher will then explain that even when someone says “I’m sorry,” you the victim still feels bad.  Teacher will then ask the students what they can do to prevent bullying.</p><p>*Technology enrichment  Interactive website for students (interactive website or Video clip, if http://www.pacerkidsagainstbullying.org/ applicable)  Student made music video about stopping bullying http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-X3Pu20w24&feature=related  Attention getter clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1j6YA03hm4k Sequence of Student Actions:  Students will participate in the discussion before the reading *Student Engagement During  The students will crumble the large piece of paper when told to do so.
