<p> Job Description</p><p>Job title: PDRA in plasma medicine</p><p>Department/School: Chemistry</p><p>Grade: 7</p><p>Location: University of Bath premises</p><p>Job purpose</p><p>The position, funded by the EPSRC will study the formation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) produced by a cold plasma jet interacting with a hydrogel wound dressing for wound disinfection. This specific part of the project will quantify ROS production via the synthesis and utilisation of ROS reporter molecules and correlate with plasma conditions, gel dressing properties and degree of microbial decontamination.</p><p>Source and nature of management provided </p><p>Professor Toby Jenkins</p><p>Staff management responsibility</p><p>One</p><p>Special conditions </p><p>None</p><p>Main duties and responsibilities </p><p>1. To synthesise ROS probe molecules 2. To incorporate into a simple wound model and use to quantify ROS production by plasma 3. To operate our plasma jet system 4. To work with microbiologists on the project to correlate ROS production with microbial decontamination 5. To supervise MChem and co-supervise PhD students 6.
