Job purpose
The position, funded by the EPSRC will study the formation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) produced by a cold plasma jet interacting with a hydrogel wound dressing for wound disinfection. This specific part of the project will quantify ROS production via the synthesis and utilisation of ROS reporter molecules and correlate with plasma conditions, gel dressing properties and degree of microbial decontamination.

Main duties and responsibilities
1. To synthesise ROS probe molecules 2. To incorporate into a simple wound model and use to quantify ROS production by plasma 3. To operate our plasma jet system 4. To work with microbiologists on the project to correlate ROS production with microbial decontamination 5. To supervise MChem and co-supervise PhD students 6. To write scientific paper, reports and give presentations
