Make predictions about your book before you get started and then read the book over the summer. </p><p>3. As you read, make notes on the characters, important events, connections you make to the text, etc. </p><p>4. Choose one of the projects listed in this packet to complete. </p><p>5. Return your completed project to your teacher during the first week of school. </p><p>6. We often enjoy books because of the connections we make to them. Write a personal response addressing how you connected with the character(s) and/or events in the novel. Your response should show how you connected with the text citing several examples from the text. There are three forms of connection:</p><p> a. Text to self—you compared a character to yourself</p><p> b. Text to text—this book reminded you of another book you read</p><p> c. Text to world—this book made you think of something that you learned/heard about</p><p>2. Write another chapter or a continuation of the book.</p><p>3. Write a review of your book or poem with a summary and a recommendation for other students.
