<p> “So Subordinating” Poetry</p><p>DIRECTIONS: 1. Your poem must have THREE stanzas of FIVE lines each. 2. The first FOUR lines of each stanza must begin with a subordinating conjunction BUT IT CANNOT BE A COMPLETE THOUGHT. 3. The LAST line of the stanza CANNOT begin with a subordinating conjunction AND must be a COMPLETE THOUGHT. </p><p>Details, details, details… The first word of each line must begin with a capital letter.</p><p> The first four lines are punctuated with a comma. </p><p> The last line is punctuated with a period. </p><p>EXAMPLE #1: EXAMPLE #2:</p><p>After I tee the ball up, As soon as I take back the club, Before I swing through, While I hesitate, I think about my next shot.</p><p>As soon as I approach the ball, When I choose my club, Where I am going to aim, Wherever the ball ends up, I will play this hole well.</p><p>In order to line up my ball, As much as I think about it, So that it goes in, Because I am a good putter, I played this hole fabulously.</p><p>Once you are done with your poem, you will need to draw a colorful illustration to go with it. USE THE BACK OF THIS HANDOUT FOR YOUR ROUGH DRAFT.</p>
