<p>MPS Master SECTION 23 82 39</p><p>UNIT HEATERS</p><p>PART - GENERAL</p><p>SUMMARY</p><p>Section Includes: Include labor, materials, equipment, and accessories necessary to furnish and install unit heaters as scheduled on Drawings.</p><p>SUBMITTALS</p><p>Shop Drawings: Submit a portfolio showing schedules of unit heaters, showing mechanical and electrical requirements for approval by Architect/Engineer.</p><p>QUALITY ASSURANCE</p><p>Terminal Heat Transfer Units: Products shall be by a manufacturer regularly engaged in production of such units and issuing complete catalog data on such product.</p><p>PART - PRODUCTS</p><p>MANUFACTURERS</p><p>Acceptable Manufacturers For Unit Heaters: Subject to compliance with requirements of the Contract Documents, acceptable manufacturers are as follows or Owner approved equal:</p><p>Trane Airtherm McQuay Standard Sterling Vulcan Sigma Rittling</p><p>Acceptable Manufacturers For Cabinet Unit Heaters: Subject to compliance with requirements of the Contract Documents, acceptable manufacturers are as follows or Owner approved equal:</p><p>McQuay Airtherm Rittling Standard Sterling Trane Vulcan Sigma</p><p>UNIT HEATERS</p><p>Casing: Unit heater casing shall be of 18 gauge steel, phosphatized inside and out and finished with baked enamel. Motor mounting panel shall not be less than 18 gauge steel.</p><p>23 82 39 - 1 Unit Heaters MPS Master SECTION 23 82 39</p><p>Casing shall enclose coil, louvers, and fan blades.</p><p>Fan: Fan shall be of aluminum and factory balanced. Fan inlet orifice shall be smooth, drawn into the casing back panel.</p><p>Furnish unit with a fan guard.</p><p>Coils: Coils shall be constructed of plate type aluminum fins mechanically bonded copper tubes. Coil shall be 1-row design for use in steam or hot water systems.</p><p>Unit shall be selected using 190 degree EWT, 60 degree EAT, [30] degree TD, [and 30 percent glycol].</p><p>Motors: Motors shall be as shown in Motor Schedule. Motors shall be factory lubricated, shall have sleeve bearings, and shall be furnished with an appropriate speed (1, 2 or 3) disconnect switch with thermal overload protection.</p><p>STANDARD MOTORS FOR HORIZONTAL UNIT HEATERS</p><p>TOP AVAILABL HORSEPOWE CURRENT SPEE E TYPE R CHAR. SPLIT 1/2 1,100 1 [208][460]/60/3 CAP</p><p>CABINET UNIT HEATERS</p><p>Type: Unit heaters shall be front discharge air delivery as indicated in Schedule. Cabinet unit heaters shall be belt drive with adjustable pulley or direct drive. Semi-recessed units shall have 4-side overlap frame mounted such that bottom of overlap is at top of base. Recessed units shall have wall plates.</p><p>Enclosure: Cabinet unit enclosures shall be furniture grade steel with baked enamel finish of color to be selected by Architect; fronts, sides, and bottom of 16 gauge and backs of 18 gauge. Recessed cabinets shall be 18 gauge with fronts of 14 gauge. Units shall be quiet operating.</p><p>Provide filters with each unit.</p><p>Exposed screws, latches or other devices shall have same finish color as enclosure.</p><p>Provide a UL approved 2-speed disconnect switch with thermal overload protection mounted in each unit.</p><p>Unit shall be selected using 190-degree EWT, 60-degree EAT, [30]-degree TD, [and 30 percent glycol].</p><p>***** USE FOLLOWING FOR UNIT MOUNTED CONTROLS *****</p><p>23 82 39 - 2 Unit Heaters MPS Master SECTION 23 82 39</p><p>Controls with Cabinet Unit Heater: Provide the following controls (line voltage or low voltage) with the cabinet unit heater. Provide insulating base for sensors which occur on an outside wall.</p><p>Fan Control by Air Temperature: Remote or unit mounted thermostat monitors air temperature in the space. When the temperature drops below set point, the heating valve will open and the fan will turn on. When the space temperature is satisfied, the valve will close, and the fan will turn off. A remote temperature sensor shall be mounted in space or in return air stream.</p><p>Fan Control by Water Temperature: Aquastat monitors the temperature of the water leaving the coil. It will delay the motor blower until a predetermined water temperature is reached.</p><p>Valve Control by Air Temperature: Remote or unit mounted thermostat monitors air temperature in the space. When the temperature drops below set point, the heating valve will open. When the space temperature is satisfied, the valve will close. The blower runs continuously based on 3 speed switch positions. A remote temperature sensor shall be mounted in space or in return air stream.</p><p>PART - EXECUTION</p><p>UNIT HEATER INSTALLATION</p><p>Valves, Pipe, and Fittings: Install units with valves, pipe, and fittings as detailed on Drawings for steam and hot water systems.</p><p>Electrical: Power wiring for unit heaters shall be connected through disconnect switch to unit as described in Division 26 and Motor Schedule.</p><p>Control: Controls for unit heaters shall be installed and connected to units as described in Section 23 09 00, Building Management System. </p><p>Controls with Cabinet Unit Heater: Contractor shall mount any remote sensors when provided. Contractor shall setup and check out operation of the controls provided with the unit.</p><p>EQUIPMENT SCHEDULES</p><p>Refer to Drawings for schedules.</p><p>END OF SECTION</p><p>23 82 39 - 3 Unit Heaters</p>
