<p> Module : LANDFORMS Vocabulary Investigation One</p><p>Landform: a feature that makes up the earth’s surface, such as a plain, mountain or valley.</p><p>Model: is a representation of an object or process.</p><p>Boundary: is the limit or border of an area or region.</p><p>Symbol: an object or picture that represents something else.</p><p>Map: a representation, usually on a flat surface, of an area or the features of an area.</p><p>Cartographer: a person who makes maps.</p><p>Geologist: a person who studies the Earth and the materials of which it is made.</p><p>Grid: a system of intersecting lines that form squares.</p><p>Legend: a key on a map. A legend gives explanations for the symbols on a map.</p><p>Structure: is something built by people, like a building.</p><p>Inventory map: is a map that shows graphic details, such as seats in a stadium or buildings in a city.</p><p>Thematic map: is a map that shows populations or natural resources, such as a weather map.</p><p>Mobility map: is a map that shows locations of streets and roads, such as a road map.</p><p>General reference map: is a map that shows physical features, such as mountains, rivers and lakes.</p>
