<p> McBride Elementary 2016-2017</p><p>Parent Involvement Policy </p><p>The staff at McBride Elementary School believes that parents play an integral role in successful education. We believe that teachers and parents work together to form a successful partnership in order to help children develop. We invite parents to participate in this partnership in several ways:</p><p> As collaborators— We invite parents to participate in home reading programs and to monitor homework.</p><p> As decision makers— We invite parents to participate in Site Council, Child Study Team Meetings, and Parent Teacher Conferences. </p><p> As support— We encourage parents to volunteer in the classroom, to chaperone field trips, and to become involved in the PTO.</p><p> As an audience— We invite parents to attend special programs and events.</p><p> As communicators— We encourage parents to communicate via notes from home, e-mail and phone calls. </p><p>McBride Elementary is committed to reaching out to parents in many ways:  Class newsletters/Weekly Highlights (planners)  Websites  “Caught Ya” Awards  Curriculum Nights  Parent Teacher Conferences  Award Assemblies  Surveys  Family Nights  Weekly Open Library Night  Attendance Incentives  Facebook Page “Information Station”  Book Fairs  Learning Shares (Speeches, Celebrations of Learning, Music Programs, etc)</p><p>Some of our students receive additional reading and/or math instruction to supplement classroom instruction. We invite parents of these students to become involved.</p><p>Our specialists:  Hold an annual meeting to inform parents of these services and their right to be involved in the program.  We provide information regarding curricula, assessments, and expected proficiency levels.  Involve parents and welcome their input in the planning and review of these events.</p><p>Parents were invited to help create and revise this document.</p><p>We review and update these policies annually at Site Council and will distribute this document to McBride families.</p>
