<p> SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE NINTH REGULAR SESSION</p><p>Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia 6-14 August 2013</p><p>MEETING NOTICE AND INFORMATION WCPFC-SC9-2013/01</p><p>In accordance with the Commission Rules of Procedure, the ninth regular session of the Scientific Committee of the Commission for the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish stocks in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPFC-SC9) will be held in Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia, 6 (Tue) – 14 (Wed) August 2013. Heads of Delegation Meeting will be held on Monday, 5 August 2013. The venue of the meeting will be the COM/FSM China Friendship Sport Center, Palikir, Pohnpei State, Federated States of Micronesia.</p><p>The following documents are posted on the SC9 website with this Notice:  Provisional agenda for the meeting (WPCFC-SC9-2013/02);  Provisional annotated agenda for the meeting (WPCFC-SC9-2013/03);  Indicative schedule for the meeting (WPCFC-SC9-2013/04); and  Registration form (WPCFC-SC9-2013/05).</p><p>CCMs and observers who wish to participate are requested to provide the Secretariat with contact details for official contacts, designated representatives, alternate representatives and advisers by Friday, 12 July 2013.</p><p>SC9 meeting structure </p><p>As decided at SC8, SC9 and future meetings will have four theme sessions only (Data and Statistics, Ecosystem and Bycatch, Management Issues, and Stock Assessment). During the SC9, three steering committee meetings will be held: Japan Trust Fund, Pacific Tuna Tagging Project, and West Pacific East Asia Oceanic Fisheries Management Project. Informal small group meetings may be held in the margins of the plenary.</p><p>Registration</p><p>Participants are encouraged to use web registration (See http://www.wcpfc.int/meetings/2013/9th- Regular-Session-Scientific-Committee). In the event the web access is not available, the completed registration form should be submitted to the Secretariat by email ([email protected] or fax +691 320 1108) by Friday, 12 July 2013. For those delegations with more than one delegate, we would prefer registrations to be submitted in batches by a key contact for each Member/Observer. </p><p>1 Heads of Delegation (HOD) meeting</p><p>Heads of Delegation meeting will be held at the PNG Room, Secretariat, on Monday, 5 August 2013 at 16:00 hours, convened by the SC Chair Ludwig Kumoru. All SC officers including theme conveners are expected to attend. The agenda for the HOD meeting will be posted in due course. </p><p>Submission of Papers</p><p>The procedure for submission of papers for SC9, as determined at SC2, will be as follows:</p><p>1) Annual Report – Part 1</p><p>Annual Report to the Commission – Part 1 (available at http://www.wcpfc.int/guidelines- procedures-and-regulations with Addendum) shall be submitted to the WCPFC Secretariat (BOTH [email protected] and [email protected]) by 6 July 2013.</p><p>)2 Submission of document titles and abstracts </p><p>The title of a paper proposed for presentation to the meeting, including an abstract, should be submitted to the relevant Theme conveners as listed below, the SC Chair (Mr Ludwig Kumoru, [email protected]), and WCPFC Secretariat ([email protected]), as early as possible but no later than 1 July 2013 (five weeks in advance of the start of SC9). Theme Conveners, in consultation with the author(s) and the SC Chair, will have the final say on which Theme will consider each paper, which papers are presented (i.e. working papers), and which are simply provided for information (information papers). Document numbers will be allocated at this time by the Theme convener, in consultation with the Secretariat, for document management. Papers that are not available in advance of the meeting may not be discussed at the meeting.</p><p>)4 All documents on SC9 website </p><p>All papers received will be posted on the SC9 website by Friday, 19 July 2013. All participants will be responsible for downloading their papers and printing them out, should that be desired. Limited printing and photocopying services will be available at the meeting venue.</p><p>2 Funding for Developing Countries and Participating Territories</p><p>The Commission will fund the participation (a daily allowance and most direct economical airfare) of one representative from each developing country and participating territory that is a member of the Commission. Formal nominations for participants to receive this support should be submitted to the Secretariat ([email protected]) under the signature of their WCPFC Official Contact for qualifying developing countries and participating territories as early as possible, but strictly no later than Friday, 12 July 2013. </p><p>Visa to visit the Federated States of Micronesia</p><p>All participants visiting Federated States of Micronesia should pass through either Honolulu or Guam airport, where they are required to have a US transit visa.</p><p>Visitors to the Federated States of Micronesia do not require an entry permit for stays up to 30 days; howe ver you must have an onward ticket and a passport valid for at least 120 days. An entry permit is required for visits longer than 30 days, extendable up to one year. </p><p>Airlines and airport Transfers</p><p>United Airlines depart either Guam or Honolulu every other day to stop by Pohnpei (Guam-Chuuk- Pohnpei-Kosrae-Kwajalein-Majuro-Honolulu). The flights are often fully booked, an early reservation is highly recommended. Please contact your hotels for transportation arrangement.</p><p>Currency in FSM</p><p>The currency used in the Federated States of Micronesia is the U.S. dollar.
