<p> Hercules</p><p>The goddess Hera caused much strife</p><p>Caused Hercules to kill his wife</p><p>His children also met this fate</p><p>Whilst he was in an angry state.</p><p>Hera made him loose his mind</p><p>Though Hercules was always kind</p><p>He didn’t know what he had done</p><p>Till he had killed his wife and son.</p><p>Hercules hung his head in shame</p><p>He realised he was much to blame</p><p>He sought advice from gods on high</p><p>Apollo answered with a cry.</p><p>In punishment for murdering </p><p>Your family , you’ll serve the King</p><p>Of Mycenae and Tiryns city</p><p>You’ll labour long without his pity. Twelve long years you’ll perform tasks </p><p>You’ll do whatever he dares ask</p><p>Your sentence will include such feats</p><p>Ferocious monsters you will meet.</p><p>Now Hercules asked for help once more</p><p>To settle this difficult, dangerous chore</p><p>Hermes and Athena came to his aid</p><p>And Hercules was a hero made.</p><p>Rona Dixon January 2006</p>
