<p> VILLAGE DESIGN STATEMENT</p><p>IN THE PARISH OF BREASTON</p><p>The parish of Breaston is situated to the west of Long Eaton, to the east of Wilne and Draycott, south of Risley and at the south the river Derwent.</p><p>Statement</p><p>1 To resist any large alteration in the parish which will affect the overall infrastructure of the village.</p><p>1.1 GREEN BELT</p><p>To prevent the encroachment of Long Eaton.</p><p>To prevent a general urban sprawl.</p><p>To preserve the village settlement.</p><p>To preserve the countryside within the parish.</p><p>To retain the tight Green Belt around the village to ensure that the village remains a separate settlement.</p><p>Any development in the Green Belt must not affect the infrastructure of the village.</p><p>1.2 CONSERVATION AREA</p><p>To preserve or enhance the centre of the village.</p><p>To ensure that any development will not be detrimental to the conservation of the existing area.</p><p>1.3 HOUSING</p><p>Large developments to be rejected due to the effect on the total village and all its facilities.</p><p>Housing provision to be limited to infill within the village.</p><p>Up grading of properties</p><p>Property extensions.</p><p>1.4 EMPLOYMENT</p><p>The current employment facilities should be fully used, maintained and improved to enhance the employees 1 village environment.</p><p>1.5 RECREATION</p><p>To ensure that the current open spaces are maintained and improved subject to funding.</p><p>To promote and rectify the shortfall of public open space. .</p><p>To ensure the provision of public open space in the local plan is retained and obtained. To review and improve footpaths, bridle paths and the up graded multi user trail .</p><p>To investigate any new requirements or requests for improvements in recreation .</p><p>1.6 SCHOOL</p><p>Although it is the Derbyshire County Council responsibility to provide all school facilities the improvement and development has to be considered when planning for the future.</p><p>To promote where appropriate replacement of classrooms and repair of buildings.</p><p>To promote the upgrading of sports facilities.</p><p>1.7 CAR PARKING</p><p>To review and monitor the requirements for the village</p><p>To promote improvements and alterations.</p><p>1.8 TRAFFIC</p><p>Any increase of HGV traffic must be rejected.</p><p>Increased car traffic into the village should be discouraged.</p><p>Monitoring and control on the speed of traffic must be an on going police activity.</p><p>1.9 LAND DRAINAGE</p><p>To monitor and review all land drainage to ensure that any alterations do not affect the critical drainage in the village.</p><p>To issue flood reports to ensure communication to the relevant authorities.</p><p>2 SEWAGE</p><p>To monitor, review and report sewage problems to the relevant bodies.</p>
