Smith, Sottile, Southard, Spires, Stavrinakis, Stringer, Tallon, Taylor, 20 Thayer, Toole, Vick, Weeks, Wells, Whipper, White, Whitmire, Williams, Willis and Wood 21 Document Path: l:\council\bills\gm\29702ab13.docx 22 23 Introduced in the House on April 25, 2013 24 Adopted by the House on April 25, 2013 25 26 Summary: Chapin Eagles Rugby Club and Coaches 27 28 29 HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIONS 30 31 Date Body Action Description with journal page number 32 4/25/2013 House Introduced and adopted ( House Journalpage 15) 33 34 35 VERSIONS OF THIS BILL 36 37 4/25/2013 38 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE MEMBERS OF THE 12 CHAPIN EAGLES RUGBY CLUB AND THEIR COACHES 13 FOR AN OUTSTANDING SEASON AND TO 14 CONGRATULATE THEM FOR WINNING THE 2013 SOUTH 15 CAROLINA HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. 16 17 Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is pleased 18 to learn that the members of the Chapin Eagles Rugby Club once 19 again took top honors at the state competition on April 20, 2013, 20 the club’s thirdstraight state title; and 21 22 Whereas, after playing fourteen games in their competitive season 23 against teams from Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, 24 the Chapin Eagles finished the season undefeated and defeated a 25 strong Greenville Red Raiders team in the playoffs 290 to earn 26 their fourth straight invitation to the championship game; and 27 28 Whereas, having already taken two consecutive state victories, the 29 Eagles entered the title game ranked first in the State and thirteenth 30 nationally; and 31 32 Whereas, the Eagles squared off against the tough and hard hitting 33 Wando Rugby Club and succeeded in taking possession of the ball 34 one scrum and one ruck after another to take possession of their 35 own triple crown; and 36 37 Whereas, the Chapin fans were ecstatic to see the Eagles hoist their 38 third trophy in so many years after defeating Wando in a smashing 39 240 finale; and 40 41 Whereas, one of twentyfour teams chosen to compete from a field 42 of the most outstanding high schoolaged rugby teams in the nation,</p><p>[4034] 2 1 the Eagles will head to Elkhart, Indiana, to represent Rugby South 2 Carolina in the 2013 High School National Invitational 3 Championship from May 16 to 18, 2013; and 4 5 Whereas, in a sport that demands strength and agility, Head Coach 6 Neil Richards and his skilled assistants capitalized on their own 7 athletic ability and training to hone a championship team and teach 8 these athletes lessons that will prove invaluable through life both 9 on and off the paddock; and 10 11 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 12 Representatives appreciate the distinction that these superb athletes 13 have brought to their community and to the Palmetto State and 14 look to hear of their continued accomplishments in the days ahead. 15 Now, therefore, 16 17 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 18 19 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 20 by this resolution, recognize and honor the members of the Chapin 21 Eagles Rugby Club and their coaches for an outstanding season 22 and congratulate them for winning the 2013 South Carolina High 23 School Rugby Championship title. 24 25 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 26 Coach Neil Richards. 27 XX 28</p><p>[4034] 3</p>
