Put the students into groups of 3 to 4. 2. Explain the aims of the lesson using the learning outcomes on Activity Sheet (1). 3. Ask the students with qualifications they have come across , through siblings, friends, own experience etc. 4. Give out Activity Sheets (1) and (2). Explain that we can catergorise jobs by entry level. In their groups, ask students to try to sort the jobs list into 4 categories, drawing on their own knowledge, parents’ jobs or just by guessing. 5. Ask the groups to feed back their answers and discuss the responses – differences in groups’ opinions, whether particular subjects might be required or if other entry requirements exist (health etc.). 6. Give out the correct answers (remembering to mention that there are exceptions and students may know of some). 7. Give out Activity Sheet (3) and ask students individually to choose a career of interests and research the entry level using the Careers Library Resources. 8. Ask the students what they have learned from the lesson. 9. Summarise the main learning outcomes.
