Community involvement is a key part of the success of the effort to identify the right leader for Melcher Elementary School. Committee members will play a vital role in the process.</p><p>BACKGROUND INFORMATION Melcher is seeking a new principal for the 2015-2016 school year. </p><p>Based on the input from the Principal Search Advisory Committee and Melcher stakeholders, Superintendent R. Stephen Green and his School Leadership team will select a candidate to lead the new school. Preliminary traits for this position include: </p><p>1) A proven background in increasing student achievement.</p><p>2) A background in education administration at the elementary level.</p><p>3) Proven success in parent and community engagement.</p><p>4) A desire for a long-term commitment to the position.</p><p>The committee will begin meeting on or after April 20th, with times and locations to be determined. The committee will meet along with KCPS administrators. The committee will make a recommendation for hire to the superintendent, who in turn will make a recommendation to the KCPS Board of Directors in May. </p><p>DEADLINE TO SUBMIT APPLICATION The deadline to submit an application is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015.
