Main job: collected data about interest rate in private debt from historical archives. This is the first trial to establish a long-term private interest rate database in China. China has numerous historical documents, however, few economists dig up usable quantitative data from this huge potential resources. The project is leaded by a Yale professor Zhiwu Chen, and the database is expected to finish in this summer. 2010.09-12, Teaching Assistant, of the course, “Introduction to Game theory” Main job: corrected assignments and helped organize a discussion group

Research in Progress 1. The effect of China’s monetary policy on sectoral investment. This is my thesis for the master degree. I want to write a literature review on the effect of monetary policy, and then use China’s quarterly data to empirically test the effect in China’s case. One different approach I take from others is that I will make a distinction among different sectors since there are huge sector level differences in China. 2. The effect of China’s labor misallocation on TFP losses. I only have a raw idea about this. Much recent literature focuses on the impact of financial frictions, which plays an important role in decreasing China’s TFP. On the other hand, labor market misallocation is another important potential source for China’s TFP losses. I come up with this idea, since many university students are preparing for the civil servant recruitment examination, and less productively monopolistic SOEs are the primitive choice for most graduates. I want to formalize and model this idea after I finish my first thesis.

University Activities and Volunteer Experiences 2005, 2006, Member of Student News Agency at Tsinghua University Main job: reported events in campus and made interviews sometimes 2007.07-08, Summer Practice Main job: collected used books and magazines in university and then built a small “library” for young migrant workers in Baigou Town, Hebei Province. 2007.09-12, Member of Student Volunteer Service at Chinese University of Hong Kong Main job: prepared games for old people in a community, guided handicapped children in the airport 2008.07-09, Volunteer for Beijing Olympic Games and Beijing Paralympic Games Main job: worked in press work room, helped journalists if needed
