<p> FERPA Rules for Release of Student Information</p><p>Under the rules of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) the only information permitted for release on any student (past or present) is directory information – excluding students who have requested their directory information be protected (“FERPA display”), in which case we may release no information.</p><p>These rules apply even if the information to be released is in the public domain from other sources or for other reasons.</p><p>If a student’s name does not appear on either “Currently Enrolled and On-Leave Students” or “Former Students,” then no information may be released on the student.</p><p>The categories of directory information are:</p><p>Name Postal addresses Email address Telephone number Date (month and day only) and place of birth Major fields of study [program and concentration or emphasis, if any] Classification (freshman, sophomore, etc.) [year in program] Enrollment status (full-time or part-time) [NOT active, on leave, or other status] Enrollment unit (A&S, Music, Kent School, etc.) [and department, if applicable] Residency status Participation in officially recognized activities and sports Weight and height of athletic team members [not for SPHIS] Dates of attendance [NOT active, on leave, or other status] Degrees and awards received Most recent previous educational agency or institution attended [not for SPHIS]</p><p>Student lists are updated each semester after every student’s PeopleSoft record is checked for a FERPA display.
