We know because the story is written in third person omniscient, meaning the narrator is not in the story but knows the thoughts and feelings of all the characters.</p><p>2) How would the story be different if one of the escaping African Americans in Harriet’s group told it? The tone of the story would change. Harriet gives a determined tone, but the slave might give a fearful tone. The story might lack Harriet’s background but include more of the slave’s thoughts, feelings, and background. 4. Third Person 1. African Americans all knew that Omniscient “Moses” was coming. 2. It helps students enjoy the reading, want to learn, and read actively.</p><p>7. What are three details that helped you achieve your purpose? We wanted to learn about her determination to lead other slaves to freedom. In addition, we learned about the pattern in which she lived her life to liberate the slaves and the skills and bravery she portrayed to complete this task.</p><p>8. What historical event caused Tubman to stop making the journeys she made in the 1850s? Explain why. Tubman stopped these journeys due to the start of the Civil War. Slavery was abolished.</p>
