<p> Class Preparation Checklist Class Date & Time: Class Location: Co-Leader: Co-Leader: * Additional information is in the Program Implementation Checklist located in the Class Leader Tips Manual.</p><p>8 Weeks Prior to Class:</p><p> Determine class co-leaders.</p><p> Determine collaborating agencies and/or organizations.</p><p> Determine the dates, times, and location for classes. . Determine costs (if any) . Determine need/availability of respite care, transportation . Determine how The Caregiver Helpbook will be funded (participants pay / sponsoring agency pay) . See Program Implementation Checklist for additional considerations on dates, times, location, and registration.</p><p> Determine equipment and other needs and determine how those will be obtained (donated by collaborating organization, class leader’s organization, etc)</p><p> Order copies of The Caregiver Helpbook at least 4 weeks before the start of the class (http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/maui/downloads/caregivers/Helpbook%20order %20form.pdf)</p><p> Develop a marketing plan . Where to advertise – church bulletins, health fairs, libraries, health care and social service agencies, adult day care, retirement communities, government agencies, non-profit agencies/organizations, local businesses. . Methods of advertising – word of mouth, brochures, public service announcements, mailing lists, “Mini” PTC sessions. . Marketing materials – posters, brochures, flyers, press releases</p><p>7 Weeks Prior to Class:</p><p> Prepare postcard or brochure mailing to clients already being served.</p><p> Prepare advertising brochure (class brochure template found at http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/maui/IGcaregivers.aspx, click on “Class Brochure” Under </p><p>Powerful Tools for Caregivers – Class Leader Tips (2007) 183 © Legacy Caregiver Services “Marketing and Registration Resources”). Insert date, time, and location of classes. Include RSVP date of 1 week prior to class start date.</p><p> Contact Heather Greenwood with all class information; information will be included on the UH Intergenerational Website – http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/maui/IGcaregivers.aspx. Heather’s contact information is [email protected] or 808-244-3242 ext 226.</p><p> If class will take place on Maui, contact Heather Greenwood to reserve the Class Leader Master Kit (2 Easels, Non-Brainstorming Charts, Markers, etc). Contact information: [email protected] or 808-244-3242 ext 226.</p><p> Determine registration contact information.</p><p>6 Weeks Prior to Class:</p><p> Begin publicizing classes (run notices in local newspapers, church bulletins, community/agency newsletters – see “Advertising Tips” Under “Marketing and Registration Resources at http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/maui/IGcaregivers.aspx). </p><p> Mail postcards/brochures to people who might be interested.</p><p> Post flyers in local community businesses, recreation centers, or social service/community agencies (see “Advertising Tips”).</p><p> Provide brochures to collaborating agency to distribute.</p><p>4 Weeks Prior to Class:</p><p> Continue to advertise and solicit class participants.</p><p> Divide responsibilities between co-leaders for preparation.</p><p>3 Weeks Prior to Class:</p><p> Continue to advertise and solicit class participants.</p><p> Confirm availability of equipment (if needed).</p><p> Collect resources for the resource table.</p><p>2 Weeks Prior to Class:</p><p>Powerful Tools for Caregivers – Class Leader Tips (2007) 184 © Legacy Caregiver Services  Continue to take reservations for classes (12-15 participants maximum recommended).</p><p> Review number of participants registered. If less than 6, consider postponing.</p><p> Class Leaders prepare material for first class (see the Checklist in the Class Leader Tips manual and at the beginning of each class Script).</p><p>1 Week Prior to Class:</p><p> Class Leaders contact all participants by phone.</p><p> If less than 6 people have registered, Class Leaders must decide whether to reschedule classes, postpone by one week in order to solicit participants, or conduct a small class.</p><p>Once the Class Begins:</p><p> Finalize class participant roster.</p><p> Record class participant’s weekly attendance on roster.</p><p>Prior to Final Class:</p><p> Prepare Caregiver Completion Certificates for those who attended at least four classes. Three Certificate Templates are available at http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/maui/IGcaregivers.aspx under “Evaluation and Certificate Completion Resources”</p><p> Make copies of the course evaluation which is available at http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/maui/IGcaregivers.aspx under “Evaluation and Certificate Completion Resources”</p><p> Keep rosters on file for 2-5 years for mailing lists and record keeping.</p><p>After Final Class:</p><p> Download, print, and complete the Evaluation Cover Sheet which is available at http://www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/maui/IGcaregivers.aspx under “Evaluation and Certificate Completion Resources”</p><p> Attach Evaluation Cover Sheet to evaluations</p><p>Powerful Tools for Caregivers – Class Leader Tips (2007) 185 © Legacy Caregiver Services  Send course evaluations to Heather Greenwood, 310 Ka`ahumanu Ave, Bldg 214, Kahului, HI 96732.
