However, the rule also impacts development of renewable energy projects, such as new hydropower facilities, sought by local Alaskan communities and villages.</p><p>This roundtable brings together diverse interests to identify issues and discuss proposed solutions that support both forest conservation goals and the greater deployment of clean, reliable, and affordable hydropower projects. </p><p>10:00 – 10:30 AM Networking Break</p><p>10:30 AM – 12:00 PM Roundtable Panel 2: Transmission Issues Moderator: David Burlingame, Dryden & LaRue Transmission infrastructure is a key component of a new energy project in any region of the country. However, due to Alaska’s size, climate and topography, transmission siting and construction poses particular challenges -- increased costs, longer construction timelines, and others.</p><p>This roundtable will examine these and other state-specific issues. Panelists will share innovative solutions that are helping hydropower project proponents go from the conceptual to reality on-the-ground.</p><p>12:00 – 1:00 PM Lunch and Networking </p><p>1:00 – 1:30 Alaska MHK Update Presenter: Tim Oakes, Kleinschmidt and NHA Ocean Tidal New Technologies Council Chair</p><p>1:30 – 3:00 PM Roundtable Panel 3: Insuring Hydropower as a Competitive State Energy Option Moderator: Clay Koplin, Cordova Electric / Robert Venables, Southeast Conference Many aspects of hydropower development and operation are unique to the Last Frontier.
