EI2201.</p><p>- Here you are: Used when you are giving something to somebody. - To hear: To receive sounds with your ears. - To speak: To speak or tell somebody something, using words. - Useful: Helpful, utilitarian. - How far is it?: Used for asking for distance. - Bag: A container. - Downtown/City centre: In or towards the centre of a city. - parking lot/ Car park: An area where people can leave their cars. - Pair: Two people. - To answer: To say, write or do as a reaction to a question. - Wallet: Used for putting money and credit cards. - Lipstick: Used for colouring the lips. - File: A box or folder for putting papers. - Watch: A type of small clock that you wear on your wrist. - Word: A unit of language. - Old: Having lived for a long time. - Basic: Fundamental. - Bird: A creature that is covered with feathers and has two wings and two legs. Most birds can fly. - Sometimes: Occasionally. - Wine. An alcoholic drink made from the juice of grapes. - Royal: Connected with or belonging to the king or queen of a country. - Beef: Meat that comes from a cow.</p><p>Vocabulary Unit 2C (pages 20 and 21) EI2201</p><p>- To earn: To get money for work that you do. (to earn a lot of money= to make a lot of money) - To draw: To make pictures. - Kind: Type. - Just: Only, precisely. - In a hurry: Not having enough time to do something. - Stressful: Causing a lot of anxiety and worry. - Lonely: Unhappy because you have no friends or people to talk to. -Unemployed: Without a job although able to work. - Retired: Not working anymore because you are old or ill. - To guess: To try and give an answer to a question without knowing all the facts. - Factory: A place where goods are made. - Qualifications: A skill or type of experience that you need for a particular job or activity.</p><p>Vocabulary Unit 2D (pages 22, 23 and Grammar Bank)</p><p>- Relative: A person who is in the same family as somebody else. - Wife: The woman that a man is married to, a married woman. - Husband: The man that a woman is married to, a married man. - To talk: To say things. - To label: To write information on something. - Be careful: Give attention to what you are doing. Vocabulary Unit 2A (pages 16 17 and Grammar Bank) EI2202.</p><p>- To smoke: To suck (take air) from a cigarette. - Subway: A train that goes under the ground. - To buy: To obtain something by paying money. - Library: A building in which collections of books are kept for people to read, study or borrow. - Crosswalk: A pedestrian or zebra crossing. - Au-pair: A young person, usually a woman, who lives with a family in a foreign country in order to learn the language. She helps in the house and takes care of children and receives some money. - Microwave: A type of oven that cooks or heats food very quickly using electromagnetic waves. - To watch: To look at something/somebody for a time, paying attention to what happens. - Dish: Food prepared in a particular way as part of a meal. - French fries: Long thin pieces of potatoes fried in oil or fat. - To cross out: To draw a line through a word, usually because it is wrong. - Housework: The work involved in taking care of a house and family, for example cleaning and cooking. - Store: A large shop that sells many different types of goods. - To drive: To operate a vehicle so it goes in a particular direction. - Yard: An area outside a building, usually with a hard surface and a surrounding wall.</p><p>Vocabulary Unit 2B (pages 18, 19 and Grammar Bank)</p><p>- Single: Not married. - Success: Favourable result. - Disaster: A very bad situation that causes problems. - Parents: Mother and father. - Brother: A boy or man who has the same mother and father as another person. - To wear: To have something on your body as a piece of clothing, an ornament, etc.</p><p>Vocabulary, Lesson 1B (Also page 141) EI 2201</p><p>- Country: An area of land that has or used to have its own government and laws. - Language: The system of speech and writing that is used by people of a particular country. - Quiz: A test of knowledge. - Again: One more time. - Business: The activity of making, buying, selling or supplying goods or services for money. - Delicious: Having - Doll: A child’s toy in the shape of a person, especially a baby. - Cheese: A type of food made from milk, it is usually white or yellow in color. - Sneakers: Tennis shoes. - Glasses: Two lenses in a frame that rests on the nose and ears. Used to see better or to protect their eyes from sunlight. - People: The plural of person. - Near: A short distance away. - To match: To connect. - Flag: A piece of fabric with a special colored design on it that maybe the symbol of a particular country or organization. - Box: A container. - Capital letters: The letters of the form and size that are used at the beginning of a sentence or a name. OPPOSITE: LOWER CASE LETTERS.</p>
