<p>Follow up Plans (Thursday working groups) </p><p>Research Pipeline Group: (Florence and John+ Mark and Smita and James) </p><p>1. Develop a repository of work in the pipeline and process for scanning: a. What does it tell us? b. What is out there? c. Where does it come from? Whose knowledge? d. What is missing? 2. Expanding the pipeline a. Bring in other voices, perspectives, places/contexts; methodologies (scoping support for southern networks) 3. Research funding pool/opportunities for a. Filling in gaps b. Pluralising knowledge base – methods and voices c. With strong criteria of i. Broadening knowledge ii. Reaches further iii. Empowerment/capacity building and strengthening 4. Mechanism for moving forward a. Small coordinating group.</p><p>Telling the Story and Expanding the Reach Group</p><p>(concerned with - Identifying and supporting latent capacity - Brainstorming transparency and accountability - Telling the story/mission</p><p>1. The story (mission, theory of change). (taken forward by Warren and Anthony. Bjoerne also expressed interest) a. Control over resources; b. Voice that makes things work i. Front end: Articulate wants and needs ii. Back end: delivery c. Access to information that people need d. Incentives, awards, recognition ---governments e. Audiences: Citizens, governments, civil society, professional communities, private secotr. 2. Specific narratives ‘hooks’ - James (BBC) to help with audience specific hooks a. Concrete examples/Awareness for action i. Communications help ii. Funding for visits/awareness iii. Community level/flexible funding modalities iv. Coopt other spaces for the ‘marketplace’, e.g. world social for a, etc. 3. Building/finding latent capacity, other for a a. OSI/IBP strategic elements b. Google, WBG, Nkoyo New Entry Points/Emerging Opportunties group. </p><p>Group to take forward Ted, Rajesh, Martin, Nana, Lalanath, Smita, Martin</p><p>1. Areas of work: a. Fragile states, e.g. parts of Nigeria b. Political opportunities c. Sector focused d. e. Opportunities for systematic change f. Capacity building g. Partnerships with other actors h. Working on both sides of the equation Follow-up Steps: 1. Follow up on A and T in fragile states, e.g. through Govnet as a new entry point (Ted/Cida) 2. OSI – network of private funders 3. TIRI – government, civil society link 4. Strategic exercise – act fast, e.g. by Nov-Dec 2008 5. Smita – think about funds to support small, sectoral, thematic efforts</p><p>Knowledge Sharing and Mapping. </p>
