Practice - Defining Account Derivation Rules for Payables 0d25451f91adef882ebedec8edaba31b.doc Effective 5/29/2018 Page 1 of 11 Rev 1 Practice - Defining Account Derivation Rules for Payables</p><p>Overview</p><p>In this practice, you will do the following:</p><p> Define two account derivation rules; one for the Liability journal line type and another for the Expense journal line type.</p><p> Assign the account derivation rules to the relevant journal line types in the Journal Lines Definitions window.</p><p>Assumptions</p><p> Replace XX with your terminal number or initials.</p><p> You must have access to an Oracle Application Vision database or comparable training or test instance at your site on which to complete this practice.</p><p> Responsibility selected to complete this practice is Payables, Vision Operations (USA).</p><p>Tasks</p><p>Log on to the system</p><p> Responsibility = Payables, Vision Operations (USA)</p><p>Create an account derivation rule for the Liability journal line type</p><p>1. Navigate to the Journal Lines Definitions window.</p><p> (N) Setup > Accounting Setups > Subledger Accounting Setup > Accounting Methods Builder > Methods and Definition > Journal Lines Definitions</p><p>2. Search for the XX Accrual Invoices journal line definition.</p><p>3. Select the XX Liability journal line type.</p><p>4. Go to the Account Derivation Rule window.</p><p>5. Create a new account derivation rule code called XX_LIAB_ACC with a rule name of XX Liability Account.</p><p>6. Associate this rule with the Operations Accounting Flex chart of accounts.</p><p>7. In the Journal Lines Definitions window, select the XX Liability journal line type.</p><p>10. In the Account Derivation Rules region, apply the XX Liability Account rule to all segments.</p><p>11. Save your work.</p><p>Create an account derivation rule for the Expense journal type</p><p>12. Select the XX Miscellaneous Expense journal line type in the Journal Lines Definitions window.</p><p>13. Go to the Account Derivation Rule window.</p><p>14. Create a new account derivation rule code called XX_EXPENSE_ACC with a rule name of XX Expense Account.</p><p>15. Associate this rule with the Operations Accounting Flex chart of accounts.</p><p>16. Enter a flexfield rule for the Invoice Distribution Account source.</p><p>17. Save the expense rule.</p><p>Assign the Liability account derivation rule to the Expense journal line type</p><p>18. In the Journal Lines Definitions window, select the XX Miscellaneous Expense journal line type.</p><p>19. (B) New</p><p>The Account Derivation Rules window appears.</p><p>The application name defaults from the application associated with the responsibility, in this example, Payables.</p><p>The Owner field is automatically populated by Subledger Accounting. For components seeded by Oracle, the value is Oracle. For components created on site by users, the value is User.</p><p>Retain the default for the Enabled check box which is selected to make the account derivation rule available for use.</p><p>7. In the Rule Code field, enter XX_LIAB_ACC.</p><p>8. In the Rule Name field, enter XX Liability Account.</p><p>9. In the Description field, enter XX Liability Account.</p><p>10. In the Accounting Chart of Accounts field, select Operations Accounting Flex.</p><p>11. Select the Flexfield radio button.</p><p>12. In the Priority field, enter 1.</p><p>Rules are evaluated in ascending order, where the highest priority has the lowest number, until a condition is met. It is advantageous to list the most commonly met rules and conditions first. The order in which rules and conditions are evaluated can be changed by </p><p>Copyright © 2007, Oracle. Once the conditions associated with a detail line are satisfied, the value from that line is used and other lines are ignored.</p><p>13. In the Value Type field, select Constant to specify the method of deriving the account combination or segment value.</p><p>14. In the Value field, enter 01-520-2210-0000-000.</p><p>15. In the Journal Lines Definitions window, select the XX Liability journal line type.</p><p>18. In the Segment field, select All Segments.</p><p>19.
